Hush Little Baby

"Hush Little Baby..." is a collection of three moving and thought-provoking One Act plays that will be playing at the Stirling Theatre for a limited run from this August.

"The Children of the Black Skirt" by Angela Betizen and directed by Peta Flanigan is a gothic fairytale that follows the history of Australia through the spirits of children who have lived in an orphanage from convict times, through to World War Two, the Stolen Generation and beyond.

Local playwright and director Peter Flanigan will present one of his own short plays entitled "Mandy". This is a moving drama that alternates between the present and the past in following the memories of a woman going through a psychological crisis.

Brendan Ellis and Joel Horwood are two young directors who together will be bringing Joseph Wallace’s play Hush Little Celia, Don’t Say a Word to the stage. This is a beautiful piece about a girl with selective mutism, and the boy who tries to get to know her.

Tickets are $16 Full or $14 Concession and are available from BOCS 9484 1133 or Morris News 9440 1040. Please see the Events tab for performance dates or visit the TAZ Entertainment website for more information.

Two in the Hand - one act season

Kalamunda Dramatic Society (KADS) proudly presents their 2010 one act season. Two in the Hand will showcase two unique and locally written one act plays.

"Patriation Road" is a drama based on the lives of a Pickering Brook family who are facing an uncertain future. Since emigrating from Italy in the early 1930s, there has been three generations that have run the family orchard. This local story is a poignant insight into the lives of a resilient and courageous family.

Next on stage will be the comedy "Hooker From Hell". Dean, an unhappily married man, seeks respite from his personal woes in the arms of a carefully selected member of the oldest profession known to man and meets Liz. It isn’t long before this much trodden path to pleasure becomes increasingly and hilariously difficult to negotiate.

Tickets are $16 including a pizza supper and are available from O'Hara's Pharmacy - 9293 1412 . Please see the Events tab for performance dates or visit the TAZ Entertainment website for more information.

Are You Being Served?

Not a lot needs to be written about this as it is so well known. Briefly the story line is the store is being prepared for the sale of German goods. Young Mr. Grace is sending the much loved staff on a summer vacation to Spain to a one star hotel, where mayhem prevails, with the tropical heat, randy revolutionaries, Spanish crumpet and giant woof ‘n’ poofs.

Is this going to be too much for our happy band? Not a bit of it! With the aid of a nun’s habit, a bowler hat and Mrs. Slocomb’s Union Jack knickers, they survive their holiday with everything intact but their modesty.

This is a glorious mixture of over-the-top characters, double entendres, sexual innuendos and a bit of slap-stick thrown in for good measure! Tickets are $18 Full or $16 Concession and are available from Gwyne - 9255 1783 . Please see the Events tab for performance dates or visit the TAZ Entertainment website for more information.

Dimboola

You’re invited to the wedding of the year… on stage!

GROOVY Boots Theatre is bringing an Australian classic to the stage this October with Jack Hibberd’s highly-popular play Dimboola.

Set at an Australian country wedding in the late 1960s, two families have a little too much to drink at the celebrations – and a variety of spontaneous songs, insults and fisticuffs are the result.

All tickets are $38.50 including a three course meal. A licensed bar will be available (no BYO). Call TAZ Tix on 9255 3366 for booking or book online. Please see the Events tab for dates or visit the TAZ Entertainment website for more information.
