The Pony Club

Located in the heart of Mt Lawley's cafe strip, The Pony Club has established itself as one of Perth’s most popular venues. With the chesterfields, chandeliers, oil paintings and that ever present hint of equestrian glamour, it is a nice surprise to find such relaxed and friendly service in such beautiful surroundings. The restaurant is complemented by a private dining space upstairs, which is proving an equally popular venue for small private weddings as it is for corporate entertainers.

Father's Day 

The Pony Club is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Father’s Day Sunday 5th September 2010. Choose from a special Father’s Day banquet menu at lunch and in the evening, or you can order your favourites from the a la carte menu.

Special: $19 Lunch Deal 

The Pony Club is offering a great value lunch special comprising of a tasting plate with a choice of four tapas, green salad and a glass of wine for $19.

The Food 

The food at the Pony Club is a modern Australian reinvention of traditional Spanish tapas though with plenty of variety and inspiration from around the globe. With a wine list comprising of a mix of boutique European and Australian labels, the menu should delight everyone from the casual diner to the certified 'foodie'. The fantastic tapas style menu is available for lunch from 12pm Friday to Sunday and dinner from 6pm, Wednesday to Sunday.

Please note: to ensure the highest standards of food quality and service, dinner service on Saturdays is now by banquet style only. The Pony Club’s offers a $50pp banquet menu that is changed weekly according to the seasonal availability of market produce.

Breakfast 

Whether you prefer the healthy or indulgent, the traditional or unusual, The Pony Club is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed weekend breakfast.

Lighter choices on the menu include a sumptuous fresh fruit platter served with vanilla and pomegranate yoghurt and minted honey. Totally decadent are the Churros with chocolate sauce. Or for those wanting something different, the menu includes spanish flavours such as Spanish baked eggs with spiced chickpeas, red onion, fetta, roast pepper and sourdough. Old favourites are also on offer such as muesli, eggs on toast and of course great coffee.

The Team 

The front of house is managed by Dion Trinder who, following a five year sojourn in the UK, returned to Australia to work at Alto’s Bistro in Subiaco before opening The Pony Club. In the UK, Dion worked at boutique venues The Royal Scotsmen Hotel and Oloroso in Edinburgh, and Havana’s Restaurant in Brighton.

The kitchen is run be Head Chef, Yann Fontaine, who moved to Perth following a successful period in Sydney. Since coming to Australia, Frenchman, Yann has worked at Sydney dining institutions including Quay, Bilson’s, and Baroque. In France, Yann was trained by masters such as Paul Bocuse and Bernard Loiseau and draws inspiration from the celebrated Alain Ducasse, as well as El Bulli’s Ferran Adria, and The Fat Duck’s Heston Blumenthal.

Special Events 

The Pony Club’s successful food and wine nights will be continuing on a regular basis in the upcoming months. Head chef Yann and manager Dion have been working with boutique wine importers, suburban vintners and local winemakers to put together a series of degustation dinners which showcase fresh WA ingredients, innovative modern cooking styles and the best imported and local wines available in the state.

Dinners will continue to be held on the third or fourth Wednesday of each month. Each menu will consist of a banquet of creative courses and will be complemented with four or five great wines. Prices will be between $70-110 per head.

Functions 

The Pony Club's private dining room can cater groups of 30 to 100 guests. It is an intimate and elegant space, with a large balcony and views from Mt Lawley to the city.
