Her Infinite Variety
Created and directed by Melissa Merchant
"Her Infinite Variety" is a fun piece of theatre which explores the impact and influence that the first women on the stage had and how they changed the way Shakespeare was performed forever. The production is the result of three years of painstaking research on the subject of women in Shakespeare, taking its creator as far as Stratford-Upon-Avon and Washington DC. Using contemporary sources, "Her Infinite Variety" asks, and seeks to answer, the question “what would Shakespeare have thought?”. Please see the Events page for show dates.
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole
A play with music by Sue Townsend
Music by Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley
Directed by Ailsa Travers
In his diary, adolescent Adrian records the triumphs and tragedies of everyday life with unconsciously wry humour. Episodes from the diary, peopled with characters from Adrian's school, home and neighbourhood, are brought to life in this very funny play. Adrian is dogged by disaster - yet in the end, as Georgie and Paulie, Bert and Queenie and others affirm, life can be worthwhile, if we want it to be, and Adrian will keep on writing poetry, however atrocious the results. "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole" is showing at the Stirling Theatre throughout July. Please see the Events page for dates.
Lucky Sods
He likes rugby, she likes telly. His favourite number is 18, her’s is 42. He picked the numbers, she changed them. They sat, they watched, they won. And now Morris and Jean are millionaires, Lucky Sods! But is hitting the jackpot all it's cracked up to be...?
A satirical and outrageous comedy about a family who have nothing on Friday and £2 million on Saturday! Written by BAFTA winner John Godber, Lucky Sods was premiered by Godber’s own Hull Truck Theatre Company in 1986 and then updated to reflect what Mr Godber sees as the changing attitudes towards playing the lottery. In his words “lottery fever has become lottery flu!”
"Lucky Sods" is showing at the Harbour Theatre throughout July. Please see the Events page for dates.
The History Boys
A dramatic comedy by Alan Bennett
Directed by Beverley Jackson-Hooper
"The History Boys" follows a bunch of sharp, talented, witty British school-boys in pursuit of sex, sport and a place at university. A maverick English teacher and the young and shrewd supply teacher, with opposing viewpoints on education, engage in a battle to get the boys into Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
With a headmaster obsessed with results, a history teacher who thinks he's a fool and the anarchy of adolescence, this play raises questions about history and how you teach it; about education and its purpose. With tragic turn of events, the boys recognise some of the lessons that they had been taught and to realize how those lessons would impact, not only their choices, but the rest of their lives.
"The History Boys" is showing throughout July. Please see the Events page for dates.
Get Smart

Garrick Theatre is proud to present the stage version of the hilarious 60s sitcom Get Smart directed by well known Perth director Ken Harris. In this adaptation, Max and 99 are on the trail of Siegfried, evil boss from KAOS, the international organisation of evil and nastiness…who may have the dreaded ‘Inthermo’ machine which is powerful enough to destroy the USA!
